Middleton finished in second place in the Big Eight Conference with a 14-9 win over Madison Memorial, a team that needed a win to become playoff eligible.
Middleton needed a Verona loss for a chance to earn a share of the conference championship, but Verona coasted to a win over Beloit Memorial.
There wasn't much offense in the first half. Memorial scored on a pair of field goals to take a 6-0 lead.
But, the Cardinals took the lead at the half when A.J. Redders found Makonnen Ramsey who took it down to the one yard line. Redders scored on a keeper a few plays later to put Middleton up 7-6 at the half.
They held the Spartans to one field goal in the second half and added another touchdown for the win.
