Memorial Beats Middleton In Big Eight Battle

Madison Memorial won a battle of unbeaten teams in Big Eight conference play Tuesday night, as they beat Middleton 56-52 in the Channel 3000 Game of the Week.

In the 2nd quarter, Memorial's outstanding guard Brendan Ortiz hit three 3-pointers to give the Spartans a 29-20 lead at halftime.

Middleton tried to rally in the third quarter behind Eric Hagstrom. But Memorial's Junior Lomomba banked in a shot from 30 feet off the glass at the end of the quarter to give Memorial a 13 point lead.

Memorial missed some free throws to help Middleton cut the lead to four, but Memorial hangs on for the 56-52 win.
